Rain

The rain did come at last today. There was monochrome sky and intermittent drizzle for hours. In the evening, the showers grew stronger and more frequent. Now, I can hear the rain beating on the few remaining leaves of the mulberry tree, and the runoff from the roof trickling out of the downspout. I'm going to put on my heaviest coat and go sit on the porch. There are months of not hearing rain to make up for.
