Write Some, Lose Some
Jun. 9th, 2003 05:34 amIt's very stupid, but I've lost something in my clipboard. I save way too much stuff on it. Since Sluggo is prone to crashing, I save entries to the clipboard before trying to post them. I keep intending to clean the files out, but haven't gotten around to it, so there are hundreds of them in there. A couple of weeks ago, I began writing something and got stuck on it, so saved it, intending to finish it later, but I can't remember the name I gave the file when I saved it. Now it's among all that stuff, and I can't find it. Someday I'll get my act together.
There's been an odd absence of animals for several nights now. There haven't been any deer for quite some time, but recently even the raccoons and skunks have been staying away. This has kept the neighborhood dogs quiet, too. In spite of the abundance of birds thronging the trees in daytime, I've heard no night birds for a while. The nights have been left entirely to me and the crickets. It's getting a bit eerie, now that I think of it.
I have a couple of pictures I'd like to post, but I haven't been able to upload them, due to Sluggo's bad behavior. I don't know how much longer this heat will linger, but I fear it may be quite some time. As long as it does, I'll be spending less time on the computer and more outdoors. At least it is nice to sit in the warm darkness, watching the stars and inhaling the fragrance of the night blooming jasmine. Soon, there will be cherries, too. The crop is not very large this year, but it is ripening quickly in the sunny days. I suppose I'll endure the unseasonable heat, as there are some compensations. But I'd rather do without it.
