As usual, the summer heat is lingering, but autumn clouds gather over the mountains. It is almost the end of the season for iced tea. (I always associate seasons with foods and drinks- I guess many people do.) But for anyone in those places where warm weather prevails year-round, and where the proper ingredients are available, I recommend this tea concoction:
Make tea with equal numbers of Orange Pekoe and Celestial Seasonings Wild Berry Zinger tea bags. Cool. (Dude.)
Instead of sugar, sweeten with sweet apple cider (Martinelli's is best, if you can find it) and black cherry juice. (R.W. Knudsen and Heinke's are the only brands of this that I know of. They are both bottled in Chico, California, and I don't know how widely they are distributed.) I like a mixture of about 10 parts tea, 3 parts apple cider and 1 part black cherry juice, so it is not too sweet.
Add just the smallest drop of lemon extract, or a squeeze of fresh lemon.
This is much better than those canned teas that are available now. And you can adjust the proportions to your personal taste. Actually, I think I'm going to go make some right now, before the chilly mountain night begins.

wild berry zinger is really good, but out of the zingers I think I like just regular red zinger the best. hot, sweetened with honey. actually, your concoction sounds like it would be good hot, too. maybe with a pinch of mulling spice. and ditto on martinelli's... shane loves his apple juice, so we've tried several of them.
