Broken Records
Mar. 20th, 2004 08:58 pmHeat plays havoc with my schedule. Officially, this is now the hottest March here since they began keeping records. The vernal equinox will be anticlimactic this year. The mulberry tree emits puffs of pollen all day, and it is like watching from a distance as smoke rises from an 18th century battlefield. But this time, I'm the casualty. Even with windows closed, I inhale enough of the stuff to make my head feel as though it has swollen to twice its normal size -- and it's big enough to begin with! Ah, the price I pay for summer shade. I am going to the other end of the house now, where it is cooler, but where no computer lives. I will watch the television, and wait for night to draw the heat from Sluggo's room.
