There used to be a minister who opened up a strange little church in Paradise--what's so unusual about that in Paradise, you ask? Well, he and his family were the folks who lived in a rather well-known house in Amityville, New York. When he first came to town, he stopped by the newspaper office where I worked, and told me all about it...more than I actually wanted to know in fact, but one got used to smiling and nodding in all the right places when a new character moved to town. I expect it's much the same today. The town may have changed, but my mother-in-law maintains that the town has always kept its rather high eccentricity factor.
