Evening

Either Sluggo or LiveJournal is being very bad today. Since the weather is mild here, I'm guessing that it's LJ. Pages take forever to open, and sometimes won't open at all.

Following a bright afternoon, the clouds returned to create a gray evening with only a few patches of blue walled with fluffy white ramparts.

The crows have been active, and I suspect that they might be gathering for a crow war. It's getting rather late in the day for it, though. Maybe it will happen tomorrow. It would be an entertaining diversion.

The lawn is beginning to turn brown in spots, so it will soon be necessary to begin watering it. I'm surprised that it stayed green as long as it did, given the minimal rain the season brought. Most years, it doesn't need much watering until July. It's likely to be a long summer. I'm glad for the few days of coolness we are currently enjoying.

Sluggo is my evil computer. It was "he" who wrote the bio on my user info page. I like to blame him for all my problems in dealing with this technology, but in truth he is only responsible for about half of them. The other half result from my own technodoltishness.

Actaully, he only needed to cool off for an hour tonight, since the house hasn't gotten as hot as it has in recent days. But apparently the CPU is still too hot for Outlook Express, as it crashed almost as soon as I loaded it, so I'm not getting any e-mail. I must get around to downloading the free version of Eudora!

it's been cooler here, too.
I downloaded Eudora on HAL, but didn't get to try it out very long before Adele arrived. I did manage to lose an email with it, though. It was a little confusing for me, but I'm used to the netscape mail and really like it a lot. A LOT. I'm hoping I'll like the gmail when it opens up to everybody.

heh. sluggo could meet my old friend "craptop", well, except that craptop was un-lovingly dispatched to the ether by horrendously blunt trama, aka a very hard smash directly into the cement floor from an excessive height after fouling up my data once too many...

I understand the method of Craptop's demise. I once had a Casio calculator which had an alarm clock function. As it aged, it grew unstable and would sometimes decide to sound its alarm when it had received no instructions to do so. This happened late one night when I was sorely in need of sleep, and when the infernal beeping woke me and I, in my befuddled state, was unable to manage the intricate series of key pokes needed to end the racket, in frustration I flung the offending device against the wall. The following day, I found its scattered pieces lying about the room and knew that they could never be reassembled, and I discarded them. They have now lain some two decades in a Los Angeles landfill. A small chip in the plaster of my wall was the Casio's only memorial. It deserved none better.
