The guy running my Internet service must be drunk. I've been getting download speeds of about 250B/s all evening. Little can be done with that.

Or maybe his cat went to sleep on the server in his basement again and overheated it.

I'm going to go watch The Daily Show.

Maybe you should start up a fund, like a paypal account to upgrade Sluggo's internet service. I'd contribute because I sure know what it's like to be able to start a download then go get something to eat only to come back and see 65% done.

Most of the time it isn't as bad as it was this day. I actually paid for a year of service from my local Internet company last month, so I've got through next November to deal with whatever they give me- unless the company goes under, of course.

Broadband is finally available here, but it's provided by our cable company, Comcast, and they are notoriously unreliable. Our cable service is down at least three or four hours every month. I'd still need dialup as a backup. I should probably wait until Sluggo is replaced to get anything faster, anyway. He's so accustomed to poking along that he'd probably burst into flames if he had to handle a broadband connection, or even DSL.
