Apr. 5th, 2005 05:14 amDownloaded and installed Firefox. I haven't downloaded any plug-ins yet. I'm not sure which would be most useful to me. I've grown accustomed to certain features of Opera that I'd like to have, but I don't think that Firefox plug-ins are available for most of them. I especially like Opera's built in Note feature, which provides a handy place to keep stuff to be copied and pasted, without the bother of using Clipboard's annoying save feature. Opera also has a handy icon for launching a new page without going to the file menu. I haven't had much time to explore Firefox yet, so I don't know if it has an equivalent. I'll poke around in it tomorrow.
The new computer smells of plastic.
I see a dessicated moth stuck to my window. There are some cobwebs stuck to the outside of the glass, too. It's almost time for spring window washing, but probably not this week. There will be a couple of warm days, but more rain may fall by Thursday. Tonight has been cool and starry, and the waning moon is recently risen, though I can't see it yet where it lurks behind the trees. I'll be glad when the drama of dealing with the new computer is over, and I can get back to my accustomed nightly activities. The spring sky must not go unwatched!

Date: 2005-04-06 02:57 am (UTC)alternately you can view->toolbars->customize to drag New Window and/or New Tab icons to the toolbar of your choice.
http://quicknote.mozdev.org/ is a note taking extension, which I am about to try.
There are several extensions that can post to LJ: DeepestSender is the one which is most like an LJ client.
You need this too! http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=784 Too bad it's not there!

Date: 2005-04-06 04:03 am (UTC)Right now, I'm trying to get Thunderbird set up. I got it set up for my main identity, but can't get the other two to work, including the one I use to get LJ notifications. Each of my three identities has its own password (I don't know it that's standard or not, but that's the way I set up the account) and the setup program for Thunderbird didn't give me the option of inputing those other passwords. Maybe I should go to chiconet and change all the identities to a single password, but I don't know if that's the way their system works, and I can't call them to find out until tomorrow since they shut down the phone lines at seven o'clock. In the meantime, I have to use Sluggo to fetch e-mail. :/
