rejectomorphI keep smelling cat pee. I think Sugar might have rolled around in some tom cat's spray. It's really strong!
There's a thin sliver of moon showing above the western pines, and the world slipping into dusk is at last bathed in a cooler air than that which made the day seem as though it had been transported hither by an infernal time machine from some infernal July. It will be hours yet before the house cools.
Still somewhat groggy, as I didn't wake up until after four o'clock! Also, those little puffs of pollen were drifting from the mulberry tree all day. I suspect them of being soporific. The pollen means that there will soon be leaves, though, and blessed shade to ameliorate the sweltering heat of summer afternoons.
For those who appreciate multi-lingual patriotism: The Star Spangled Banner in Yiddish.
For those who prefer paganism: The Anacreontic Song, the music of which Francis Scott Key appropriated for his patriotic hymn.
