The rain finally arrived, but was barely noticeable. I suppose this is a good thing, as the den's leaky roof has not yet been repaired, but it's still a disappointment. Also, the day smelled as though everybody in town had a fire going. In fact, it was only the fireplace of the house next door, perfectly situated to pollute my room with wood smoke. The day isn't even all that cold, but the absence of a wintry feel has not prevented this wintry stench. I'd prefer cigar smoke. The popular romanticization of wood-burning devices can only be explained by a widespread absence of familiarity with them and their emissions.

Well. I'll be spending most of my time in the other end of the house where the air is cleaner. That means minimal computer time. Everybody gets a break.
