Oh, the unintentional naps! I hate them! It was such a nice evening, too, following an afternoon just a bit too summery for my taste. That might have been part of the problem. The day's heat got trapped in the house and, with the help of a tasty bottle of Sierra Nevada Porter, sent me into a doze. Once submerged in the deliciousness of half-sleep, I couldn't drag myself back to the waking world. I slipped away altogether until I finally woke to the sound of crickets carried on a cool breeze through my open window. It was entirely dark out by then. I wish I at least had an interesting dream to report, but I recall none. The worst part, though, is that this all happened after I'd downed two cups of coffee! What will it take, I wonder, to keep me awake through the evenings of my dotage? Feh!
