Enough

Heat is coming back to torment us. This afternoon there were enough clouds for a while to shadow the sun and make it seem as though rain might fall, but by evening they had dissipated, leaving not even a hint of damp in the air. My throat is so dry from the lack of humidity that it is often difficult to swallow without first taking a sip of water. At the moment, it feels as though this could turn out to be the hottest night so far this summer.


The cat is still spending most of her time asleep, though she finally ate a bit of food. I'd like to spend a bit more time asleep myself. In fact I'd like to sleep until the heat wave is over. This is exhausting.
