Wet

Rain finally began falling sometime today as I slept. Dim light then let me oversleep, and it was only when a particularly strong downpour drummed on the roof just after three o'clock that I woke to the sodden afternoon world. Fallen leaves which last night skittered with each breeze are now glued to the ground by the wetness. Most of the time there is only quiet autumnal drizzle, but now and then a louder pattering enlivens a few moments. Late afternoon brought a period of misty fog, but since nightfall the clouds have remained above the treetops. The air is quite mild, and it's unlikely that this storm will bring snow to any but the highest peaks of the Sierra, if even there. The water is nice though.
