The night I created this journal the windows were open and the scent of jasmine filled the soft summer air. Tonight the windows are closed against the smell of smoke, and the jasmine blossoms have nearly all turned brown. Maybe next year the night will be sweet and mild again. In the meantime there's still this:

happy ljversary! your 7th-year mark is about 4 months before mine. let's split the difference and have cake in late august!

Thanks. By August, with luck, the smoke ought to have cleared and I'll be able to taste things again without getting that smokey undertone.

Thanks. It's hard to believe that I've made over 4,500 entries in seven years. I wonder if I can make it to 10,000? That's a nice, round number.
