Daily Appearance

Helicopters and lawn mowers all day, frogs and crickets all night. It's definitely spring. There've also been mosquito bites, and some of them are on me. The fruitless mulberry is dropping its blossoms, so there'll be no more pollen from that quarter, and it has loads of new leaves so I'll soon have shade for my window. Also seasonal, the first bootle of Summerfest beer, which I'm going to open in a few minutes. Happy very late evening of Earth Day to all.

Something about this 1950 photograph from the Life Magazine collection makes it seem like something Edward Hopper would have painted. I don't know if he ever went to Milwaukee, though.

Sounds like I have to go out and breakup a cat fight. Stupid cats.

i like the photo. you're right -- there's a loneliness about it that'd make a good hopper painting.

I think black and white cat snagged another bit of gray cat's fur. Gray cat only retreated when I went out, but doesn't appear to have gotten as aggressive as he might have. I think he thinks he might get lucky. I think he's probably mistaken.
