Summer Complaint

Now that it's summer, the cat is shedding so much I'm getting wall-to-wall carpeting of cat fur on my wall-to-wall carpeting. Oh, is that stuff hard to clean up!

Sunni used to give me cat barf a couple of times a week, but Portia has only upchucked two or three times so far. Maybe she's saving it up for a really big one.

If you have a Swiss army knife, the saw blade makes an excellent grooming tool. You can comb all the loose hair out before it sheds.

Portia is the first cat I've had who hates being brushed or combed. Even Sugar, who didn't like to be petted, enjoyed a good brushing, but Portia, who loves petting, bites and swats at me every time I try to use a brush or comb on her. I might have to get one of those cat grooming gloves- one thick enough that she can't bite through it.
