The afternoon turned gray, lending the evening a moody atmosphere appropriate to late winter. It's about time. The plants have been on hold ever since the warm spell in January launched them into premature blooming mode. Those buds have been sitting there all through February. I don't know what sort of flowers they'll produce once they do get enough warmth to finish blooming. Actual spring should be interesting. Maybe there'll be mutants.

Date: 2011-03-06 08:51 am (UTC)haha! i'd have liked to see that, too. i had a childhood friend whose gift for comic description was a fabulous thing. it may've been lynn who told me the story of the james arness movie, saying he looked like a giant carrot. too bad about the lack of orange hair. :D
i didn't see the Triffids, though i remember hearing that it was scary. a few years ago, i think i told you about the theater in my dinky hometown that was open for a few years. i saw dozens and dozens of excellent movies for a quarter admission. the previews of the scary ones were often more than enough fear factor for me!
