In the exact middle of August, which came at noon today, a cat tried to suffocate me. I was fast asleep, of course, and Portia decided to lie down next to my face. Getting a nose full of fur woke me up. Sadly, that was the most interesting thing to happen all day. In fact, it will probably turn out to have been the high point of my week.

Or maybe not. I finally bought a casaba this week. It's the first time this year that I've found them at a price I could afford, at least without having to hock any valuables. It's actually rather late in the season for casabas, so I don't know if it's going to be any good or not. They're usually at their best early in the season, in June or early July. If this one turns out to be good, then eating it will easily beat nearly being suffocated by a cat as the most interesting thing to happen this week.

I have no idea what I'll do for excitement next week. Maybe I'll water the front lawn again. It's been nearly a month, I think. The back lawn gets watered because I've discovered that the kittens are fascinated by the hose, and enjoy stalking it, so when I water out back I get a green lawn, and entertainment into the bargain. If I water the front yard all I get is a green lawn.

Look at what Twitter is missing by me not having an account there.

Shut up, Joe.
