Sunday shopping had to be done on Saturday again, and it felt like the hottest day of the year out there, which it was. Despite the heat, the stores were busy, but everybody else looked as dazed as I felt. As I expected, I've had to turn on the air conditioner this evening. The house got above 80 degrees, and I intend to knock it down to about 78. So far the machine been running for an hour and it still hasn't reached the target.

I suspect that the attic is probably hot enough to prepare baked raccoon. Luckily for the raccoons, the bit of broken drywall that would have allowed them access to the attic has been repaired. No baked raccoon for me. Another sandwich, I think, and then a big chunk of the watermelon I bought this afternoon. After that I'll probably fall asleep in front of the television. 78 degrees is not cool enough to keep me alert.

So far I've seen neither hide nor hair of hurricane Irene. There's not a cloud in the sky, and the air is perfectly still. What can a hurricane amount to if it can't even being a little rain to California? What was all the fuss about, I wonder?
