Watchful

Indian summer has been interrupted by a rainy interlude. This afternoon I was looking at the beads of rain that had collected on the leaves of a bush in the front yard, and I had the sudden feeling that I was being watched . The structure of the leaves had caused the drops to gather in pairs, so it seemed as though I was being watched by hundreds of pairs of bright, pale eyes. Odd that I never noticed that before, as many times as I've seen that bush jeweled with raindrops. If the clouds clear a bit and the moon emerges, I'll be able to see myself being watched by the bush full of eyes as they reflect the moonlight. That would be interesting.
