Dull

This place (this backwater town) always goes dead on the evening of a holiday. So does this place (LJ.) But then this place is nearly dead most of the time, and so is this place anymore. But this place is dead because that's the way most of its inhabitants want it to be, while this place is dead because everybody is gradually abandoning it. LJ is the Toledo of the Internets.

I have a stew to eat and beer to drink. I'll go do that now.

LJ is sorta dead. i've never been to toledo, but i'll take your word for it on that front.

last evening was really dull. even Tumblr was barely scrolling, and it's usually crazy cakes. bet everyone will be too full of tryptophan to post later on today!

Stew of leftover roast beef, and Sierra Nevada Porter.

I've never been to Toledo, either, but comparing old photos of its once lively downtown with modern photos of its now largely deserted streets makes me think of LJ.

I could have made the comparison with just about any mid-sized American City, and quite a few large ones, but the name Toledo just sounded right.
