The water is running on the rose bushes. Because I still haven't gotten around to replacing the burned out porch light, and the crescent moon has already settled beyond the house, I can't see it, but I can hear it. It sounds cool in the warm evening. I enjoy listening to it. I do not enjoy listening to the cicadas, but them I'll hear whether I'm outside or inside, so I stayed outside a long time. I have to eat something eventually, though, so I've come indoors to endure the heat, and I miss the sound of the water running. The house is still 80 degrees, so I probably ought to have turned on the air conditioner, but I want to keep the electric bill as low as possible. I have to pay for all that water somehow.
