rejectomorphToday I caught up on the watering that I had neglected when my shoulder was aching. Some the th e plants in the far corners of the back yard were looking pretty bad, as I hadn't been able to drag the hose out there for two weeks. Tonight I hope to get the bushes in the far corner of the front yard. I also got some raking done, and used the vacuum cleaner in the back room. The gravel that Portia had spilled from the litter box over the last couple of weeks is now gone. There are some heavy boxes I'd like to move, but I don't want to overdo it. There's almost a whole month until my next adjustment, and I'll have to live with whatever happens before then.
I had intended to eat dinner in the afternoon again today, but after the various chores I ended up falling asleep on the couch and didn't get around to it. I'll have to fix something now, I suppose, as there is stuff that will go bad if I don't cook it soon.
Speaking of eating, the feral cats haven't been very hungry when I've fed them recently. Yesterday morning's food sat most of the day with only a few nibble gone by evening. The same thing is happening today. I don't think anybody else in this neighborhood would be feeding them, and if they were hunting rodents or birds I wouldn't expect them to all be successful every night. What I suspect is that they have discovered that the cicadas are edible and easy to catch. A few nights ago the yard was buzzing with them, but tonight I hear only a few nearby. The cats have probably decimated the cicada population of every nearby yard. As this saves me some cash, I've suddenly grown quite fond of the cicadas, and I'm sure I will miss them when they are all gone.
There's still a 40% chance of rain tomorrow, and the chances for tomorrow night and Saturday are up to 60%, but at this time the sky certainly doesn't look like there is going to be any rain soon. There's hardly a cloud in the sky, and those few are wispy. The weather maps show clouds a hundred miles or so offshore, but only a narrow band that is drifting north. They might go onshore in Oregon or Washington, but I can't imagine them coming here. I hope I'm wrong. If I'm not, I might have to change weather sites. I'm tired of being disappointed.

Date: 2013-09-20 03:29 am (UTC)They're saying we could get clouds and rain up here for a few days, after tomorrow. We shall see. Today was sunny and bright but didn't get as warm as they had projected. I was relieved by that!
