Well, my plans have been thwarted again. The elf was too clever for me, evading the traps, and now I'll have to open a can of beans for dinner. I was so sure I would succeed this year, too! I'm beginning to wonder why I even bother. Maybe next year I'll just try to trap a raccoon and pretend that it's an elf. It's really too bad that I didn't even get any tiny reindeer, as this is the warmest Christmas Day I can remember having since I came here, and it would have been perfect for a barbecue.
Anyway, I'm depressed, so I think I'll just go watch television for the rest of the day. Maybe there'll be a show that doesn't have anything to do with the elf. I don't need any reminders of having yet another failure.
But bunny stew at Easter, for sure! Today, every scrap of chocolate in the house.

Date: 2013-12-26 03:50 pm (UTC)It is nice to see you are still posting here... you seem to be the only constant of my old LJ friends. I have been feeling the urge to blog recently and have started writing a bit, journal-y stuff only... no fiction, sadly. And I have been playing with and testing out other platforms, but I just keep coming back to LJ.
I see that the LJ servers have kept all of my stuff back to my 2002 start date, but I just keep getting this sneaking little suspicion that one day it will all just disappear as if it never existed. I wish that LJ offered an option for requesting a print-out of all the history... perhaps even printed out a year at a time. I would be willing to pay $$ for that. But, alas, I think I shall just have to copy/paste it all into a Word document for myself if that is what I want. So... I guess that is one way of paying for it, yes? Just not the immediate gratification, throw-money-at-it way.

Date: 2013-12-27 06:32 am (UTC)FAQ #8 has some information on downloading archival copies of your journal. I downloaded some of mine, but haven't done the last several years.
There's also the third-party free application LJ Archive, which dowloads everything, including comments. I've never used this, but have heard it recommended. It requires the Windows .NET framework, but just about every modern PC has that. There is also an LJ community for it.
There is also Blurb, a service that will print hardback or paperbound copies of your journal and even let you offer it for sale. I haven't looked into their pricing or any other details as it's something I'm unlikely to buy. I've got too much stuff piled up in my house as it is.

"Yu, 55, challenges any customer to name a food product he doesn’t carry – if they want it, he’ll find it."
Go for it, I say.
