Well, my plans have been thwarted again. The elf was too clever for me, evading the traps, and now I'll have to open a can of beans for dinner. I was so sure I would succeed this year, too! I'm beginning to wonder why I even bother. Maybe next year I'll just try to trap a raccoon and pretend that it's an elf. It's really too bad that I didn't even get any tiny reindeer, as this is the warmest Christmas Day I can remember having since I came here, and it would have been perfect for a barbecue.

Anyway, I'm depressed, so I think I'll just go watch television for the rest of the day. Maybe there'll be a show that doesn't have anything to do with the elf. I don't need any reminders of having yet another failure.

But bunny stew at Easter, for sure! Today, every scrap of chocolate in the house.

Sorry the elf eluded you! I didn't see any elves here either, alas. I watched part of the old b&w film *The Ghost and Mrs. Muir*, figuring that would be plenty seasonal. I had remembered loving it many years ago but found it awfully slow in this day 'n' age, so I skipped the romantic subplot with the publisher and went right to the end. They don't make 'em like that anymore. Maybe it's just as well!

Nah, not Christmassy at all. I was being self-deprecating about considering it seasonal. My son walked into the room as the ghost was greeting Mrs. Muir, moments after she died, and his reaction made me realize how weird the movie is. *g*

Netflix only has it on dvd, and Amazon has it on dvd for $34. Oopsie. *g* I read the synopsis and was amused that Amazon offered it in a 3some package with Mrs. Muir and Laura. Now Laura I have seen and enjoyed, if mostly for Vincent Price!

Oh yes, I love that song too! I had it on an old cassette tape of Tony Bennett's hits and listened obsessively. I saw a clip of it there on the Youtube page by Ella, must go listen. Thanks!

Anyway, elf would have probably pushed your cholesterol level through the roof.

I was reading in the Sacramento paper the other day about a place called "Koreana", an international food plaza down here.

According to the owner,

"Yu, 55, challenges any customer to name a food product he doesn’t carry – if they want it, he’ll find it."

Go for it, I say.

LOL - Hello, old LJ friend. I see you are at it again with the stalking of elf for food. Again, I would like to say that I am sorry you are disappointed again this year, but I am actually rather relieved... again.

It is nice to see you are still posting here... you seem to be the only constant of my old LJ friends. I have been feeling the urge to blog recently and have started writing a bit, journal-y stuff only... no fiction, sadly. And I have been playing with and testing out other platforms, but I just keep coming back to LJ.

I see that the LJ servers have kept all of my stuff back to my 2002 start date, but I just keep getting this sneaking little suspicion that one day it will all just disappear as if it never existed. I wish that LJ offered an option for requesting a print-out of all the history... perhaps even printed out a year at a time. I would be willing to pay $$ for that. But, alas, I think I shall just have to copy/paste it all into a Word document for myself if that is what I want. So... I guess that is one way of paying for it, yes? Just not the immediate gratification, throw-money-at-it way.
