Cool

The moonless night will be pleasant once the neighbors turn off their porch light. It's cool outside and I want to sit in the dark and listen to the crickets. It has been nice to have a few cool nights and a few days that have been merely hot rather than torrid. It will come to an end by Thursday, though, when we head back into the 90s. That's no surprise. It was this brief respite that was unusual for the time of year. Tonight is supposed to get cooler than any night yet this summer, and I intend to take full advantage of it. I will leave the windows open and the fan on all night, and by morning I hope to shiver for at least a few minutes. The experience might have to last me all of August.

I hope it did cool off! We had rain overnight, with a high predicted for 63 today. Which is a shame -- Greenwood's Seafair Parade starts at 6 p.m., rain or shine I guess. Hope it shines.

Did the neighbor ever turn off the light? Once a neighbor back home got an enormous security light in his backyard, my mother's nightly stargazing came to an end. Light pollution is the bane of modern existence. Well, one of same.

The light went off around midnight, so I did get some sky watching in. The house did get very cool later— cool enough that it never got uncomfortably warm today, even though the outdoor temperature was heading back up from yesterdays.
