From the Braising Pan II

My head got yanked by the chiropractor this afternoon and when I got home I took a nap, so the evening has been compressed. I'm still heat-dazed. The mountains were topped by huge thunderheads all evening, but I haven't heard any thunder. There is a fire burning several miles north of here, but so far I haven't smelled smoke. The night is not cooling as rapidly as I'd like. Tomorrow will probably be much the same as today, except I won't have to go out again.

Tonight I have a donut. No need to make dinner. Yay.

Summer has really set in. I'm not lovin' it either. Is the donut sugar-glazed yeasted or iced cake?

It was one of Safeway's apple fritter donuts. They are a bunch of misshapen lumps of raised dough jumbled together with a few little bits of apple (unlike a real apple fritter which has lots of apple in it) and given a sugar glaze after being fried very dark.

Oh yeah, I've seen those! (There was a Safeway back in Maryland, but it was much inferior to the local Giant chain. Here on the West Coast, Safeway is king, but I buy a lot at Fred Meyer too. And QFC. Funny how moving takes such huge adjustments in stores and brand names.)
