Darkening

It was almost dark at eight o'clock this evening. As we can't water between ten o'clock in the morning and eight o'clock in the evening while the restrictions are in place I will now be watering in the dark every night. I managed to get most of it done before twilight completely faded tonight, but in a couple of weeks I'll be hauling the hose around in the very dark.

There's no way I'll be able to water in the mornings. I'll either be actually or virtually asleep, and the early glare is terrible anyway. Ideally, we will start getting some rain before daylight saving time ends, but ideal is rare here. For now, the forecast is for sunny days with highs in the nineties for the next ten days at least. Summer obviously intends to persist.

As eager as I am for the hot weather to be over, I will miss the lingering evenings. Dusk is my favorite time of day, and as autumn approaches it diminishes. Being able to wear a sweater outdoors will be some compensation, but there's really nothing to compare with sitting on the porch listening to crickets as the long evening slowly fades and the stars appear.

They're saying our hot weather will last into next week too. I say to hell with it. :/

No, there's not! I haven't done that in years, alas.
