Forget It

Today I managed to get a few things done, but it was only a dent in my list. I'd like to get everything done soon, as the weather has turned so springlike, and in spring I like to be listless (see what I did there?) One of the things I did was one I'd rather not have had to do— I watered some of the plants. It's way to early to be irrigating, but the ground has given up so much of the water it got in the recent rain that things were looking a bit thirsty. Two of the azalea bushes are now full of big blossoms, and I'd like to keep them around for a while, so I watered those. I also watered the third azalea bush, though it hasn't bloomed yet. I hope a nice drink will encourage it to do so,though it has grown so bedraggled I fear that it might be on its last stalks.

The single daffodil that's blooming got a drink, too, as did one end of the jasmine hedge. I'll probably water the rose bushes within a couple of days, though so far they are showing only new leaves and no buds. It's possible that I pruned them wrong last fall and they won't be getting any flowers, but I intend to keep them alive until they've had a chance to prove they can still bloom. I don't know what I'll do if they have come to the end of their life cycles. I've always thought the patch they occupy would be a decent spot for a small herb and vegetable garden, but now I've go so many feral cats around that I suspect any cultivation would lead to it becoming a big outdoor litter box. I'm sure it would be best if I can keep the roses alive instead.

Among the things I didn't do today was eat lunch. I'm so easily distracted anymore that I'm frequently doing that. I end up eating lunch for dinner, then fall asleep before I have anything to eat around midnight. As I usually have only a glass of orange juice and maybe an actual orange for breakfast, I often end up having only one meal in a day, sometimes for several days running. One would think that after that I'd be able to fit into my old pants that are now too tight, but one would be wrong because one would be discounting the beer I drink. If I were to stop eating altogether I suspect that I still would need to get bigger pants eventually. Thanks, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company.
