It's going to be moonless most of the night. I'll most likely be asleep long before the thin, waning crescent rises. In the meantime the small crickets are buzzing and a skunk has released its spray somewhere in the neighborhood. Once the smell diminishes I think I'll go out and watch the stars. With no lunar competition and no clouds they should be pretty bright.
All evening I've been craving liver and onions, though I absolutely hate liver. I think maybe all I really crave is the onions, but I'd have no idea what to have them with and that's why liver comes to mind. But I think I've only got one onion on hand anyway, so it doesn't matter what I'd have with them in lieu of liver. One onion is too little.
What I'll actually eat for dinner is moot. I've been putting it off because I really don't want to think about it. The weather has turned too warm again to have the oven on, so I'll most likely end up with something microwaved or something heated in a pan. Or a peanut butter sandwich, which is easy enough to fix. But I still don't want to think about it.
I can't remember if my chiropractor appointment is tomorrow or the following Tuesday. I've lost the damned appointment card again. I'd lose my head if it weren't screwed on. But then if my head weren't screwed on I wouldn't need to go to the chiropractor, so that might actually be an advantage. I wonder if that can be arranged? I wouldn't have to eat, either, since my mouth would no longer be connected to my stomach. This is sounding better and better. I think I'll look into it.

Date: 2015-09-09 10:55 pm (UTC)My mom's liver was definitely prepared int he Midwestern style, then. But she always served bacon with it, along with the onions sautéed in the bacon grease, so I'd gag a bit of the leather down first and then cover up the vile taste with the bacon and onions.
Is the Venetian style liver calves liver, or do they use goose liver? I've always been curious about French foie gras, which so many people rave about, but I've never had it. I'm afraid I might like it and I'd never be able to afford it again (not to mention what happens to the goose, about whom I'd feel no end of guilt.)

Date: 2015-09-09 11:26 pm (UTC)It was calf's liver and quite nice. I've never had foie gras that I know of, unless a bit of it was used in some recipe someplace and I didn't know what I was eating! Yes, the poor goose. :/
