Summery Day, Dull Post

This is one of those days when it would be nice to have a pool to just float around in. There is a public pool in town, but it is full of screaming kids. Some places are not suitable for relaxation. I'll make do with the shade in the front yard.

I haven't had time to go out walking for a couple of days, and I hope my back doesn't get too stiff from the lack of proper exercise. I've been doing things around the house and yard, but those things don't help. Sometimes they make it worse. But at least everything is fairly well cleaned up, now.

I don't actually hate the blue jays. I just don't like them nesting in the yard. They screech all the time, they attack the cats, and they drive away the other birds.

Their larger cousins, the crows, can be obnoxious, too. But crows don't nest in the yard. They prefer the woodlands nearby, and only pay a visit to my street once in a while.

In this fairly rural place, pigeons are not as common as they are in cities. I rarely see them.

And, I'm way too far from the ocean to see seagulls more than once or twice a year.

Peacocks are indeed the noisiest of birds. There were people who raised peacocks in the neighborhood I grew up in, and the screech was alarming.

But most of the birds that frequent my yard now are pleasant and unobtrusive. The jays are the only ones that insist on making trouble.
