Exhaustion

I've been spending way too much time reading lately, and I blame the Internet. There's just way too much stuff on it. Even if I ignore the total crap and concentrate on the good stuff, there's just not enough time to see it all. That leaves me feeling like a hopeless slacker when I finally have to go do something else, such as eat so I can stay alive long enough to read still more, or when I get so tired of reading that I have to go watch foolish stuff on television.

But Ecclesiastes: The words of the wise are as goads; and as nails well fastened are the words of the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd. And furthermore, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

Ah, that's better. A famous book tells me it's okay to stop reading and watch television. Goodnight, Internets.

A lot of what I read is fairly geeky stuff about economics and such, plus a lot of stuff from old magazines and books at the Internet Archive and Google Books. The old stuff is not related (at least directly) to anything going on in the world today, though the geeky stuff often is.

I have been reading more current newsy stuff of late, but haven't overdosed (yet.) It's easier when you never watch TV news, which I don't unless I expect there to be something about unusual local weather, of course.

I hadn't realized till I followed you at FB how knowledgeable you are about economics. I'm forever a neophyte when it comes to the market, or macro and micro, etc. Chase Bank probably makes a lotta money offa me. Ha.

It was a few weeks after the election before I could finally let myself look at online news even, so traumatic were the results. I still don't like anything I read, but I'm hopeful that we aren't on the cusp of Armageddon, so to say!
