Reset Thirty-Nine, Day Fourteen
Mar. 19th, 2022 03:32 amFriday left me in need of an afternoon nap again, and the nap wiped out my memory of what happened earlier in the day, but I do recall that I both saw my lizard and heard the mockingbird, though not at the same time. Dinner involved an enormous potato pancake (if there is a next time I'll use just one potato instead of two potato (three potato, four, would be out of the question.) They were pretty big potatoes. The day, I guess, was small potatoes, as nothing else happened, as far as I can remember.
Something is supposed to happen today, though. The forecast is still saying there's a 62% chance of rain for the mini-metropolis. Odds are better in the mountains, and we might get a final few inches of new snow. In olden times we sometimes got snow even in April, but that was when winter used to get seriously cold and wet. This seems an unlikely year for late storms of any consequence.
It's time for me to start thinking about getting stuff from the store again. Very little orange juice remains, and the last of the donuts will be consumed today. What is left of the bread is stale, and can only be toasted. More concerning, the Belgian chocolate is running low. I don't think I can sleep without either a bedtime square of chocolate or falling unconscious from exhaustion, and the former is far more pleasant than the latter so a trip to Trader Joe's must be arranged.
Today and tomorrow are the last cool days before the year's first heat wave arrives. Such a depressing thought. It's like spring will be over the day it officially begins. I hope fire season at least has the decency to wait a few more weeks.
