Reset Forty, Day Twelve
Apr. 20th, 2022 06:28 amTuesday was sunnier than I'd expected, and though I slept through the morning and didn't get up until two o'clock I still managed to get a bit of direct sunlight. I also managed to trim some excess from the large bush in the back yard so as to let the grape vine get some of that sunlight. Much of the large bush will be untrimmable, because the grape vine is curling its tendrils around many of that bush's branches, using them as ladders to reach the sunlight. Sadly, this means many more bunches of grapes will develop atop the large bush and thus be unreachable for me. I'll still get plenty of grapes, though, down in the corner of the yard where the large bush has few branches.
For dinner I made a package of macaroni and cheese, which turned out okay. This time I managed not to overcook the pasta, and got the cheesy sauce to just about the right consistency. It still doesn't compare to the baked macaroni I used to make from ordinary pasta and fresh cheese, but I no longer have the patience to make that. Also I've never replaced my small Pyrex baking dish I lost to the fire. It was the perfect size for one serving.
When I wake up today I will have the last of my current supply of donuts for breakfast. I need to check the supermarket ads to see if any of the stores have them on sale this week. Frequently they don't have them at all, so if they do I will buy some even if they aren't on sale. In the meantime I'll be substituting cookies. I acquired a decent supply of those from my last shopping trip.
Rain is expected today. I'm a bit surprised it hasn't started already, as it has been overcast for quite a while. The heaviest rain is supposed to come this afternoon, and overnight. There could be thunderstorms, too, and rain could continue tomorrow. It could turn out to be a soup night. My first choice would be Minestrone, but I think I'm out of that. I'll probably end up with a ramen bowl. Pasta two nights in a row. I need a better meal plan.
