Reset Forty, Day Twenty

rejectomorphWednesday afternoon's weather was pleasant, though I enjoyed it less than I might have had I not been short of sleep. I also had to spend part of the day attempting to finish the things left undone earlier in the week, and failed again. I now think I misinterpreted the situation with the callback from the attorney, as looking at the graphics on the phone I can see that the call I thought was from him Monday afternoon was actually going the other way, so it was just the record of my outgoing call.
The thing that threw me was that the little arrow was not green, as is the case with a completed call, but that other color (tangerine?) that indicates an incomplete call. Since I did in fact talk to a secretary that day, I don't know why the arrow is not green. I think my phone might be trying to gaslight me. If it is, it's likely that it will get away with it. Frankly, the gadgets still confuse the hell out of me. I'm learning very little anymore, given the limits on my short term memory, so I'm perpetually at a disadvantage. Eventually the machines will succeed in turning me into a raving (or catatonic) lunatic.
Anyway, I now have no idea what to do about the situation. I called again Wednesday afternoon and the secretary was not helpful. I think she might have been distracted, as I heard a baby fussing in the background. Apparently she is still working (though barely) from home. Everything is at a standstill until I can talk to the attorney. I suppose I could leave a voicemail, but recording devices have a way of turning me into a blithering idiot. Still, blithering might be better than nothing.
The evening I spent with Safeway's not-very-user-friendly web site, putting together part of an order to be picked up, hopefully Friday. The idea will be to finish placing the order and selecting a pickup time that day, as an umber of items I intend to get are part of the Friday-only sale. The way the site is set up, and the way it displays prices, is quite confusing, and I really don't trust it. I get the feeling I could end up paying way more for some stuff than I want to. Raley's much superior web site has me spoiled, though Raley's prices are almost always higher than Safeway's, and they don't have as much stuff I want on sale this week as Safeway does. If Safeway doesn't come through with the sale prices on this order, I'll probably be doing all my online shopping at Raley's in the future, that store's higher prices notwithstanding. The better service is worth it.
I hope the various trials and excitements of Wednesday don't prevent me from sleeping well tonight. I suspect that last night's poor sleep was largely the result of the similar situation Tuesday (and Monday.) Of course form a larger perspective these are incredibly trivial problems. I mean I haven't had a single Russian bomb fall on my neighborhood all week, and I've still got Internet, and YouTube to watch. But I still wish that attorney's office (and Safeway) would get their freaking acts together.
