(no subject)

I suddenly find myself with a 49333bps connection. For some reason, it doesn't seem any faster than the 28K I had with the old (CURSE IT) modem. I'll never understand this machine!

Catching Up

Well, let's see. What happened while I was computerless for a week?
I was awakened by an earthquake. (Portola is about 50 miles east of here.)
I saw a few meteors. (Leonid shower, I think.)
One of my cats began washing her face too much, and is rubbing the fur off of her nose. (Don't know what that is about, yet.)
Watched Jupiter rise up the early morning sky a bit farther away from Venus each day. Thursday morning I expect that the moon may be somewhere between them. Not sure, though.
Began reading Paul Fussell's Wartime, which I've been meaning to get to for years. And, just to see the changes (and similarities) over the ages, re-read a bit of Herodotus.
Listened to a few CDs without doing anything else at the same time- which hasn't happened much since I've had the computer.
Put together a few notes about Poetics. A bit more difficult than I expected. I've let my thinking get flabby in recent years. I'll have to re-learn organization.
Altogether, not a complete disaster.
But, damn, that e-mail piles up!
