At first, a single star was revealed as the clouds thinned. Then, gradually, the sky opened and more and more appeared. The moon had already set, and the pinpoint lights seemed to shine all the more brightly for the darkness of the night. I suddenly had the feeling that I was attending the unveiling of a work of art, as though I had never seen this sky before. As the number of lights in view continued to grow, I thought of the icy void of space and the incredible heat scattered about it. Distance itself was casually strewn before me. Time opened like a flower blooming, ages to which each star is no more than a brief spark reflecting from some grander design. I feel very, very young.
