If I did have any etchings, you can bet that at least some of them would be by Peter Milton. Many years ago, I found a magazine published in the late 1960s which had reproductions of three of his works. This was before he became well known. I cut the reproductions out, and still have them, tattered and dog-eared though they are. I found them both haunting and disturbing. Once in a while, a few of his works will show up at online galleries. I just did a Google search, and found Points of Departure II: Nijinsky Variations. (Avery large image- over 400k.)I don't like this particular piece as much as I do some of his other work, but it is a fairly decent example of his style. If you enjoy the strange, the haunting, the evocative, it is worth a look. There are smaller images of this and a few other works at McGowan Fine Art.

Some friends of mine have apparently been victims of a virus hoax. Or maybe not. Someone has started a chain of e-mail which informs people that their computers may be infected with a latent virus, and that a particular file should be deleted. The problem is, the SULFNBK file is part of the Windows system, and may or may not be infected. A lot of people are apparently deleting the file for no good reason. More information on the hoax in this Sophos Article: SULFNBK: Virus or Hoax . . .or both?"

Quiet around here tonight. Not many posts. Guess everybody is busy doing holiday things. Putting packages under the Wotan tree, and all that. Drinking chicken's-egg nog. I think I'll go watch reruns on TV while cleaning my hunting rifle. Mmm, reindeer steaks tomorrow! Side of cookie'n'milk-fed elf!

And the prize for Most Original Holiday Post goes to [livejournal.com profile] darksmile for this delightful gem.

(Also, apropos my previous post: no, I don't really have a hunting rifle, I would not eat Donder and Blitzen, and I do enjoy xm*s, because it gives me a chance to emulate my hero, the unreformed Ebeneezer Scrooge. Merry Humbug to all, and to all let's get tight!)
