Another Hot Day

Last night the fat moon rode a breezy sky and today the breeze carries heat into the deepest shade. Swaths of cirrus cloud are breaking like waves across the blue afternoon and the pines are swaying and humming. Everything is drenched in sunshine. My cats are curled up under bushes, probably wondering what became of spring. Spring will return tonight, when the temperature drops. No matter how warm a March day may be, the nights here will remain chilly. Only when the real summer arrives will I be able to leave the windows open all night. For now, the weather will remain in this mercurial mood.
