Hove Ages Up

A plethora of posts on the subject inform me that everyone in North America is enduring outrageous heat, so there's no need for me to feel singled out for abuse, and no point in any further bitching (though I'm certainly not averse to being pointless, when it suits me.) In fact, right now I'm feeling somewhat fortunate that, while other places are subjected to both days and nights of sweltering, I am blessed with cool night breezes which set the pines quivering and make them shimmer with moonlight. For this I can thank the mountains, I believe. Thanks, mountains!

Question

Anybody heard of mindViz?. At least one LJ user at a photo community is using their image hosting service, and hot-linking the pictures to LJ. They provide a goatload of free services, and the operation has been live for about two years. It's run by a guy named Morgan Demers. They already have over 350,000 users. That's about all I can find out about it from Googling. It doesn't appear to be owned by any big corporation, but I can't find any indication that it's powered by open source software, either. It looks too elaborate to be a one-man sandboxm though. Many features of the site are closed to non-members, and you can't get a lot of details about the place. I can't even find out if they have premium memberships. I wonder who is bankrolling the place? Strange.

Dullness

It's been one of those days when everything I feel like doing is something that can't be done here, and I wouldn't have time to do it anyway. Later, a bottle of lager will be consumed and Ella Fitzgerald will be listened to, I think. Right now, soiled fabrics are threatening to get out of hand unless they are made to behave by being thrashed inside the washing machine. Once they have been dried, I shall fold them to within an inch of what would be their lives, were they living. I will not be dissuaded from this!

I don't like Sunday.
