Wet

Rain has arrived to make everything slick and shiny. It is louder when the lawn is covered by mulberry leaves. They are thick and resonant. Nevertheless, the steady drumming failed to make me drowsy. I made coffee after dinner last night. Twelve hours later I'm still wired. Must remember to switch to decaf. Brain still muddled, too. It's an odd combination to be wired and have my brain running on a fraction of its power. This must be what it's like to be a dog. I hope I don't get fleas.

The rain ends and blue begins to dominate the evening sky, too late to bring sunlight that would dry the mass of wet leaves covering the lawn. Sheets of cloud in the west turn the color of old paper and blow away, still blank. I think of lost hours.
