Lessening

At last a night of cool breezes, and the stars floating among vague oceanic vapors. Torpid air grows first merely languid, then almost playful. The sound of rustling leaves recurs, and the crickets fall silent. On my window sill, I find a victim of the day's heat- a desiccated crane fly. The cooling undoubtedly came too late for other creatures as well. Being among the survivors, I allow myself to enjoy the relief nevertheless. Some later week could bring worse.

A further yanking of the neck will take place this afternoon at four o'clock. I'd thought that Tuesday's appointment would be the last for a week, but it turns out that it will be today. Then I'm stuck with whatever condition I've got for seven days. There might be much taking of pain killers during the next week, and a continued diet of mushy and thinly sliced soft things. I hope, at the very least, for a reduction in the chronic nausea I've been feeling. But, again, I don't get a choice. Stupid neck bones. I want to be a fish.

Bones

Today's neck yanking was quite traumatic. In fact, it involved something very close to a punch, to get my jaw started moving back to where it belongs. As a result, my bite is now off a bit more than it was before. My long-askew bite might actually be one of the factors contributing to this whole skeletal fiasco I've been enduring. The long-askew bite, in turn, is the product of my always-askew wisdom teeth. Advice: If you have wisdom teeth coming in askew, get them yanked out while you're young! Even if getting them out turned out to be twice as unpleasant as you expected, the results of not getting them out will eventually be ten times as unpleasant. Get it over with!

I have a very poor relationship with calcium.

In other news, the cooling trend continues, though it is glacially (heh) slow. At least I'm going to get a few hours of pleasant air tonight, and tomorrow won't become stifling quite as early as today did. I might even be less cranky than I've been lately. If the weather and my skeleton both improve, I might even become less tedious! Something to look forward to.
