The summer sauna continued Wednesday, as it will for the remainder of the week. A couple of times when I went outside it induced a bit of nausea. For dinner I just fried a couple of potatoes and melted some cheese on them, and boiled some cauliflower. I've run out of stuff to make sandwiches with, which was careless of me, knowing what sort of weather was on the way. Also careless, I've run out of iced tea. I'm not fit to be anything but miserable this time of year.

It isn't cooling down very much tonight, either. When I went to sleep (with difficulty) Wednesday morning it was only down to 68 outside but still 74 in the apartment. This morning is likely to be as bad, if not worse, so I'm considering burning some money in the air conditioner to get the place down to, say 72 degrees, just long enough for me to drop off to sleep. I'll probably wake up drenched within a couple of hours, but a little bit of almost-cool sleep is better than none.

The mockingbird has been outside tonight, somewhere down the bike path singing. I didn't hear any birds singing during the heat of the day, but then I wasn't outside very long then. Still I doubt the birds could be any happier about this weather than I am, which would be not at all. I hope we get at least one or two breaks over the next couple of months, though it's very unlikely.

Which reminds me, I need to refill an ice tray before I go to sleep. I've got a feeling I'll be using a lot of it tomorrow. The tea is gone, but there's still lemonade.
