Unupdated Update
Dec. 21st, 2010 02:56 pmI got Butch (the desktop) up and running. Gladys can nap now. Thing is, Butch is missing months of Windows updates, and has old versions of other programs that I've updated (or were automatically updated) on Gladys. It's going to be tedious for awhile. But at least I've got my full-sized keyboard back, so I don't hit as many wrong keys.
Plus I've got a mouse instead of that annoying touch pad. Unfortunately, it isn't my wireless mouse. I can't get the wireless mouse to work, so I've had to hook up a (shudder) wired mouse. Worse than that, it's... Sluggo's mouse! It isn't Sluggo's original mouse, which died long ago, but it's the replacement mouse which was plugged into Sluggo long enough that there's a risk of there being some infection of evil on it. I'm hoping to figure out soon why the wireless isn't working, and disconnect the Sluggoed mouse before any serious damage can be done.
And no, I didn't get to see any of last night's eclipse. It rained all night, without a single break in the clouds. Most displeasing. But I got a lot of laundry done.
Off to seek out updates. Gladys always got automatic updates for both browsers, which spoiled me. I might set up automatic browser updates for Butch, too, if I can figure out how I ever got it set up on Gladys.
