Braised

This has probably been the worst day yet this summer. Not only was it hot, but it was cloudy all day, and muggy, and a new fire nearer than the previous one has put the smell of smoke into the air. It isn't a lot of smoke, but enough to be a constant irritation. Now the clouds will probably hold the heat and smoke in all night. The next three days will be pretty much the same.

At this point, I'd almost welcome one of the thunderstorms that have so far remained only a possibility, but I don't think it would be worth the risk of more fires just to assuage this boredom and discomfort. I'll tolerate having the air conditioner running for a few more days. But I won't like it.

Anyway, this weather has drained me of every bit of energy. And just when I thought summer was going to mellow out a bit. Very disappointing. The only good news is that the moon will be full tomorrow, and the clouds will probably look nice in the moonlight, although the smoke is likely to tinge the moon yellow.

Chiropractor tomorrow, too, and just in time. My left shoulder has been out of joint for the last couple of days, and it's contributing mightily to the misery index. Get thee hence, August!
