My neck has decided to start giving me trouble again, and I don't have an appointment with the chiropractor until a week from tomorrow. He probably won't be available this week due to the holiday, so I can't go in early. I'll just have to put up with it.
The prolonged dry weather is taking a toll on the yard. The azalea bushes are looking pretty bad, so I gave them some water this evening. It seems very strange to be irrigating in December, especially on a chilly day. The thumb I used to stiffen the spray (I couldn't find the nozzle) got almost numb from the cold water. The long range forecasts offers a 10% chance of rain a week from tomorrow (chiropractor day!), but I won't count on it. My guess is that by June, the town will be littered with the bleached bones of raccoons, squirrels, and deer, and the dessicated trees will be spontaneously bursting into flames. But then I've always had a touch of pessimism.
