What Else?
Nov. 30th, 2014 06:00 pmThere was a window of opportunity this afternoon when the rain stopped, so I went to the stores after all. There was stuff on sale at Safeway that will be more expensive tomorrow that they were out of last time I was there, and I hoped to get them, but they were still out. I got a few other things, though, and came home with only about thirty dollars less in my pocket, so it was not a complete disaster. And I didn't get wet. The rain has since begun falling again, but only gently.
It now looks as though we'll get a dry day tomorrow and maybe even a bit of sun, but then it will be right back to the rain for the next three days. There won't be time for the leaves to dry out. The back lawn is completely covered again, and with what is left on the walnut tree I've got at least one wheelie bin's worth to deal with once they dry out. But that's not counting all the stuff in the back part of the back yard, beyond the jasmine hedge. Nor is it counting all the mulberry leaves that have yet to come down in the front yard. I'll be dealing with leaves for the rest of the year, but for now I'm only looking forward to getting the back lawn uncovered.
The Internet has been a bit faster today, but is still more sluggish than usual. I'm glad I don't have anything essential to do on it. I'm trying to economize on gas by leaving the heat register in the computer room closed, so I don't want to spend a lot of time in here anyway. The machine gets to take long winter naps. I could use a nap myself, since I woke up much too early today. I hope I don't fall asleep too soon and miss seeing the English people killing each other on television. That's pretty much the highlight of my week.
Oh, I now have red grapefruit from Texas, from the first sale on this year's crop. That alone means the shopping trip was worthwhile.
