One Thing

For the second day in a row I ended up sleeping through parts of movies I was watching on television. I should probably start sitting in the rocking chair instead of lounging on the couch while watching. Maybe that's why old people like rocking chairs— they are uncomfortable enough to keep one awake, and if one does nod off then the shifting one does is apt to make the chair move and wake one up again. And perhaps one should stop using the awkward pronoun one, as it makes one appear rather pompous.

I'm hoping that the house will cool off enough tonight that I'll actually be comfortable indoors before morning. It will be the first time I've been so in days. I can get comfortable outdoors, but I don't want to spend the whole night out there, especially since a skunk has lately been coming around and drinking from the feral cats' water bowls. I could nap on the back porch chaise lounge, but the last thing I'd want is to suddenly wake up and startle a thirsty skunk. That could lead to something far more unpleasant than being uncomfortably warm.

Tomorrow is shopping day, but I won't be buying much. There isn't much on sale at either store, and in any case I'm a bit over budget for the month already. In fact I might be over budget for the year, as I haven't yet gotten the bill for the insurance on the house, so I have no idea if it's gone up again or not. It's gone up quite a bit each of the last two years, and if it goes up as much this year it's going to be a real squeeze to save for the property taxes. I'd probably have to cancel the cable, and as there's not much broadcast television available here... well, I don't want to think about it.

Due to the excess sleeping I did earlier, this entry is pretty late. I'd better just post it instead of trying to remember what else it was I was going to write about. Probably just something about the moon anyway, and the moon will still be there tomorrow night. At least one would hope it will.
