There was sunlight this afternoon, and though it wasn't especially warm the feral cats enjoyed it tremendously. They found dryish spots in the yard and sunned themselves for hours. Because the air remained cool, drops of rain clung to the rose bushes next to the back porch, and as the sun gleamed through them they glowed with rainbow colors. I sat in the sun myself and watched them until the shadow of the roof finally engulfed them. Then I went back indoors so my ears could warm up.

I'm staying indoors tonight because it has gotten quite cold out now that the storm has passed. But at least the wind isn't blowing, so it won't be too much of a shock for the feral cats. I, on the other hand, have been eating soup in an attempt to ward off the chill of the house. So far the soup has failed to thaw my brain. That will take television and a nice blanket. There will be sun again tomorrow, and the cats and I will be pleased.
