Wednesday morning I might have slept better than I'd expected, but I'm not sure as I've forgotten most of the day already. One thing I do remember is that a crew was trimming trees along the bike path and grinding up the chunks of wood, and that was very noisy and finally woke me up completely in the early afternoon. Since then I've done stuff on the Internet and eaten things and had a couple of beers apparently, as I see two empties that weren't there when I woke up, but I only remember drinking one. There was probably a snack with one of them, but I don't remember that either. A wrapper or empty bag or something might be in the trash can, but I don't feel like checking it to see. I'll just be surprised when I go looking for whatever it was and find it missing.

After the tree crew left I sat in the backyard for a while, and the weather was not unpleasant. I noticed that quite a bit of fresh green is sprouting on the grape vine, and though much of it is very high up, there is enough of it reachable that I should have as many bunches of grapes as I could want this summer. Naturally they will be ripening at the same time the fruit becomes plentiful and cheap in the stores, so I won't be saving a lot of money, but I do appreciate the convenience of going out the back door and plucking a bunch of grapes, and the pleasure of eating them while they are still warm from the sun. There's nothing quite like that.

So today will be the last day of March, which will be going out like a lamb in heat, and then April begins with highs in the eighties. Worse, the second week of April will bring three days in the nineties. April showers are not supposed to be showers of sweat. At least the nights will be getting cool, so there will be recovery time, and some capture of chilled air overnight to slow the accumulations of heat the next day. I hope to avoid having the air conditioner on for at least a few more weeks. Energy has gotten a lot more expensive this year, like everything else, so the longer I can put off using it the better.

I hope to get to sleep a bit earlier than usual tonight. It's not that I have anything to do that I need to get up early for, but it seems unusually quiet around here tonight, and it might be nice to take advantage of that to sleep. Maybe it will be more restful than usual. My sleep hasn't been very restful of late. I could use a reminder of what it was like.
